Georgie: Anticipating the PCT

Thoughts from November 10, 2017

My Mom and Dad are taking us on a hike that goes from Canada to Mexico. I do not want to go, but I think it will maybe be good for us. I don't know if I can walk that much even though my pack is probably light-ish.

Thoughts from November 13, 2017

We go through Washington State, Oregon, and California. We start in July and hopefully end in November or December.  I think my favorite parts will be seeing a Redwood tree and when we are done. I will miss my family, friends, and my animals.

These are the things I will need for the trip.

The rest of the packing I will leave to my parents. They will bring compasses, maps, knives, deodorant, permits, headlamps, bear cans, bug spray, sunscreen, hats, medicine, umbrella, and mole skin.

We went to a store and got some shoes for camping. We got our feet measured and fitted and I ended up with Altra Superior that felt supported and padded.

Thoughts from December 4, 2017

We got new tents for our big hike. They are two person tents that take about ten stakes. I think they won't last  very long because they look thin and rippable, and also, knowing my family they won't last for more than 100 days. They are big inside and will definitely hold two people. (I will probably take that back when I've slept in it for two months.)

Today I got a green camping jacket from Dad for my birthday. It packs into its own pocket and it weighs 6 1/8 oz. The company that made it is Mountain Hardware. When you put it on it does not feel like it could ever be warm, but if you wait awhile it warms right up.
